Lengau

Conservation Through Education

About Us

Lengau is dedicated to practicing research, education, and conservation by connecting students with the environment. We lead students on research trips around the world to cultivate a love for science and the natural world in the next generation.

Jason Uitvlugt and Brad Lewis are the co-founders of Lengau and teachers at Bainbridge High School in Washington State. Specializing in environmental science and statistics respectively, they have been leading student research trips for over 15 years.

“To say that the ride down the mountain is bumpy would be a severe understatement, but oddly enough, after a month you begin to sort of enjoy the rhythmic jolting of the car as it slowly rolls over rocks and falls into ruts. All the same, it is still a relief to reach the bottom, buckle your seatbelt, and glide down the paved road to Louis Trichardt.”

Help Lengau continue its mission to foster a passion for conservation in the next generation by exposing students to hands-on science in the field.

By donating, you fund the materials we use to carry out research at both Hoja Nueva in Peru and Lajuma in South Africa. All of our research is provided to the scientific community as open-source data because we want others to use it and help conserve the natural world to which we belong.
